Since 1977, West Philly performers have had their own stage at Bushfire Theatre.
Home to one of America's oldest theatre companies, Bushfire showcases local playwrights, develops neighborhood talent, and runs the Langston Hughes Playwright's Workshop where new storytellers hone their skills.
It takes talented actors, deep community roots, and a whole lot of work from the staff and crew to make each performance happen.
As founder and artistic director, Al Simpkins created a dedicated space for local performers and remains committed to preserving the theater for the community.
TECCDC is glad to partner with Bushfire's team to support its success and everything it brings to West Philly.
