The Enterprise Center CDC and JP Morgan Chase Partner for cleanup efforts along historic West Philadelphia commercial corridor
PHILADELPHIA – On Tuesday, June 3, The Enterprise Center CDC (TECCDC) conducted a community cleanup for the 52nd Street corridor in partnership with JP Morgan Chase bank for the fourth year in a row. TECCDC and JP Morgan have a mutual partnership to elevate the historically Black-owned business corridor in West Philadelphia. As part of The Enterprise Center CDC's commitment to encouraging a safe, pleasant environment for business owners, shoppers, and residents of 52nd Street, TECCDC contracts with a local vendor for street cleaning and regularly oversees volunteer community cleanup days.
The clean-up took place along 52nd Street and Malcom X Park, in partnership with JP Morgan Bank employees, and Enterprise Center volunteers. Volunteers worked on landscaping the park including rooting, cleaning planters, and planting new greenery provided by Monarch Hardware, a local legacy business. Refreshments and snacks for the volunteers were provided by Dottie’s Donuts and Authentic Ethnic Cuisine.
“The park has become safer and cleaner; the community is vibrant with more families gathering in the space,” said Kim Carter, Executive Vice President of TECCDC, who oversaw the event. “We are thankful to our partners at JP Morgan Chase, Friends of Malcom X Park, City of Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and Community Life Improvement Program (CLIP) for support on supplies.”
Marcus White, Manager of the 52nd Street JP Morgan Chase community bank added, “The Enterprise Center CDC has helped the bank build trust with the community to achieve our goal of educating and providing representation.”
Gregorio Pac Cojulun, Jr., who has served as President of the Friends of Malcom X Park for 32 years, shared his thoughts on the recent partnership, stating, “We are thankful that this annual cleanup event is kept up for the groups and originations that produce events at the park and pour money back into the community.”
